Antelope Valley
Come for the poppies and stay for the vast amount of affordable and desirable housing. Antelope Valley is unique in Los Angeles County by having one of the highest affordable housing index rankings. This index is calculated based on median house price income and interest rates.
The Antelope Valley has a pleasant semi-arid, prairie-like climate–less hot than a typical arid climate. Known for its clean air and blue skies, it has an average rainfall of less than eight inches. Clear days are the norm, even in winter when surrounding mountain ranges are dusted with snow.
The AV offers excellent elementary and high school systems, as well as a distinguished community college.
With the clear air, locals are known for outside activities such as cycling and concerts. Through the Parks and Recreation Departments, the Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale provide plenty of open space. Lancaster City Park/Big 8 Softball Complex spans approximately 63 acres of land. In addition to an impressive activity center with a full kitchen, game room, and gymnasium, Lancaster City Park is also home to eight lighted tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, and our Big 8 Softball Complex. Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale includes a large park concert area, tennis courts, swimming pool, skate park, play areas and abundant amounts of open grass space.
The AV is a gateway to many featured locations. In the time it takes to navigate the Westside of Los Angeles, one can get to Las Vegas for a weekend getaway or almost to Mammoth Mountain. Many take advantage of the fast roads to get to beautiful hiking areas and the off-the-beaten paths with 4×4’s.
Employment in the AV is Military dominated but there are plenty of other industries as well.
